Taking Care - "No Place For Hate"
November 16 | 9:30 am (K-2) and 10:30 am (3-5)
Mr. Paul (Paul Hadfield), a counselor, comedian, and circus artist, teams up once again with Mr. Barry (Barry Wood), who has taken up the role of a Sherlock Holmes style detective, seeking out the Who-What-Where-When & How of bullying behavior. Together, they track down an elusive rumor, solve a mystery in which peer aggression makes a small conflict huge, and learn how to stay safe while using the internet. Role play, magic, and lots of laughs will engage students and teachers in new ways to reduce mean behavior at school.

Chosen Dance Company - "Hip Hop"

Chosen Dance Company's goals are the validation of Hip Hop dance as a true art form and the accessibility of Hip Hop to audiences regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender. Through entertainment and education, Chosen strives to enhance the global appreciation of Hip Hop culture. Chosen believes that it can take Hip Hop beyond its traditional boundries while preserving its purity.

Walnut Street Theatre - "The Princess Who Lost Her Hair"

This East African folktale tells a story from the Akamba people who have a beautiful princess with the most glorious long hair. Princess Kalendi loves her kingdom, but becomes vain and loses sight of what's important. When a weaver bird asks for a strand of hair for his nest, Kalendi's refusal brings drought and famine to the land, and the princess loses her prized possession—her beautiful hair. Come on the beggar Muoma's journey to restore the kingdom by helping the princess realize that compassion, humility and kindness are far more valuable than external beauty, praise or vanity.

Eric Wright - author, Frankie Pickle Series
March 2 - Read Across America | 9 am (K-2) and 10:15 am (3-5)
Eric Wight is an author, illustrator, and animation director. His first book, My Dead Girlfriend (Tokyopop), was nominated for the 2008 Best Graphic Novel of the Year Award by the Young Adult Library Services Association. In 2004, Wight won the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award for his illustration work in The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist, the comic book adaptation of Michael Chabon's Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Mr. Wright will read from one of his books, demonstrate how he illustrates, make a new story with the group and sign books.

Franklin Institute Traveling Science Show - "Hot & Cold"

Turn your students into molecules as we explore the three states of matter. Make balloons shrink, bubbles freeze and a rubber ball shatter by using liquid nitrogen (N2). Students learn the everyday application of N2 in manufacturing, food production and medicine.

Richard Gustafson, Magician - "Fun with Magic"

Magic is the oldest of the performing arts, dating back to the royal command performances of Dedi in Egypt in 1700 B.C. The careers of many of the world's most famous magicians are brought to life through posters used by many greats of the past and live performances of entertaining mysteries as the Gustafsons tell the romantic story of this popular art.
